Yeeeesh! America is so ready for the Thanksgiving Holiday break this year! Maybe it's the aftermath of the vicious Presidential election campaign of '04, maybe it's the ambient testosterone of war . . . but the national nerves are frayed. Over the weekend, college football rivals Clemson and University of South Carolina brawled on the field, a rare occurrence that would have been front-page news were it not for --- the National Basketball Association players who waded into the crowd the night before, throwing fists into fans' faces. Then, on Sunday, here in a part of the world where deer hunting is a sacred annual ritual, after a territorial dispute involving a tree stand (a tiny shelf up a tree where hunters sit and wait, covered in camouflage and deer urine) a man opened fire on other hunters with a (legal) assault rifle, killing six and wounding two. Let's all take a deep breath and count to ten. Gobble, gobble.
